In the heart of Lancaster is ITT Engineered Valves. Manager Gary Zimmerman reached out in spring of ’22 to discuss his options of replacement or coating/restoring the roof. Gary also wanted to install solar panels on the roof, so needed the roof to last no matter what choice he made. After working for over a year together on coming up with a plan and coordinating with the solar company, the project finally started in May of ’23. This was a very large roof, so the project was going to take 4-5 weeks. The biggest hurdle to deal with, when it comes to a project of this size, is the weather. 5 weeks of springtime weather can be challenging. In Lancaster PA in the spring, you wake up in the winter, it’s springtime in the mid morning. Summer in the afternoon, and fall in the evening! So you have to be prepared to adjust your day and schedule to the changing temps and rain and whatever else mother nature has to throw at you.

 

The system they chose was the Puma XL Coating System, fabric at seams and protrusions only. This is a great restoration system that starts with washing the entire roof. Then installing a kevlar fabric over all the seams and around protrusions. Then top coating the entire roof. This system makes the roof better than ever before, saves money because you don’t have to tear off the old roof, and last decades all while providing energy savings with the reflective white coating. The project went smoothly, was done in 4 weeks, and the client is very happy and the roof has been handed off to the solar company to install the new panels.
